When heading on vacation, I like my skin how I like my flights: not bumpy. Both easier said than done, though. Besides breakouts and/or air turbulence, there’s something special about taking a vacation and indulging in off-time for yourself, whether that’s by sleeping in or doing your favorite elaborate self care routine. Not to mention the TLC your skin craves in a new climate—but before the reward, you have to *do the work.* No good trip is complete without a solid packing job, which takes time, energy, money… labor! All of it: labor!
When prepping for OOO, I always pack a good book, which is perfect for keeping my mind occupied while catching some sun or disconnecting from technology. When I do decide to be a tech-head, I always have a portable phone charger on me so I can be a diligent, devoted tourist instead of hunting for a power outlet. Didn’t some old wise dude say that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? Old wise dude is right—but you still wouldn’t catch me dead on vacation without some quick skin fixes on hand.
For when you discover a post-flight zit is blossoming on your face: KILLA
You can do all of the pre-flight skincare in the world and still end up with an aviation-induced zit! Wearing a mask in flight doesn’t do skin any favors either. KILLA Kit is great for those times when you hop off the plane with a deep, angry friend on your face. Four tiny-but-mighty patches are perfectly portable and take up virtually zero space.
You might be wondering why KILLA deserves a place in your suitcase over other pimple patches. Fair enough! The biggest (and pointiest) reason is our microdart technology. You’ll find 24 of these little guys on each patch, and we made sure ours are sharp enough to actually penetrate the source of a zit. The satisfying tingle they impart is a huge plus too!
Need more reasons to throw KILLA in your luggage? Look no further than our CLEANA swabs, which are included with every KILLA Kit. Before slapping on a patch, CLEANA will remove airplane gunk from the site ASAP, paving the way for our microdart patch to downsize your zit and *clear things up.* This swab might be small, but it contains heavy-hitting ingredients like salicylic acid and tea tree oil to make sure your zit is prepped and ready to be banished. Basically, KILLA and CLEANA make sure your skin looks several shades of amazing for all those portrait mode travel pics you’ll be snapping.
For when your skin turns on you in a new climate: PRESS REFRESH
Heading to a new climate can be both good and bad. It’s refreshing to shake things up and go from dry heat to humid or cold to hot, but swaps like these don’t always make for happy skin. Skin can act up when it’s not used to a new climate, posing problems that you’ve never seen before. And summer heat only makes this worse!
No matter the temp, PRESS REFRESH is there to help you soothe the irritation and redness that often accompany travel. This isn’t your average paper sheet mask—in fact, it’s not paper at all! PRESS REFRESH is a smoooooth jellylike mask made of cooling ‘hydrogel.’ It contains a lot of derm-loved goodies like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, but it also has up-and-coming ingredients like allantoin, which extracts impurities and dials down redness without tanking your skin’s hydration levels. The best part is that PR also gently exfoliates while soothing skin. Sal acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid all make an appearance to clear dirt and dead skin, minus the further redness and irritation that can usually accompany exfoliation. Pro tip: throw PRESS REFRESH in the fridge to double down on the ‘refresh’ part!
For when you need to bust texture on-the-go: PORE VAC
Whether my skin decides to gift me clogged pores or full-blown pimples, my MO is always to try to get them off my face as soon as possible. That’s even truer when I’m on vacation, eating a bunch of “unhealthy” stuff that makes my skin break out. No shame in the dairy/sugar/gluten game, btw! No matter your diet or your skin, PORE VAC is a clay mask that doesn’t discriminate between which impurity is caused by which aggressor. This gray kaolin-enriched goo is key to unclogging pores and bringing bumps to the surface, making texture easier to tackle in the long run.
When a full face of clay isn’t in the cards for your skin type, PORE VAC also performs well on the T-zone, where excess oil often lives. It can even be used as a spot treatment on any area of the face that has pores in need of some vacuuming. Get you a mask—and a whole dang travel kit—that does it all!
